Thoughts for the day...

Today I read Isaiah 53-58

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways not my ways,' declares the Lord." Isa 55:8

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your tighteousness will go before you , and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. 'If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy yor needs in a sun-scorched land and will strenghten your frame. You will be a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." Isa 58:6-12

Thoughts: I know that those who don't know Him, those who are in need, those who are hurting are the ones who are on God's heart. I need to stop thinking so much about myself and have others on my heart and mind. God wants a relationship with us and a changed heart, not religion. He wants obedience, not sacrifice. I also need to make sure I don't have a "pointing finger", blaming things on anyone else. I am responsible for my own actions and thoughts to God. When my heart is right with God and living for Him, serving others, He will do things to heal those around me. If I want to be a spring whose waters never fail for others, I first need to stay close to God, the One who is called the Living Water.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talking to God: "God, help me to focus on U and what's on Ur heart. Help me not to be so influenced by what others say. Help me to keep my eyes on U. I pray that U bring life to those around me in Ur time and in Ur way. I love U, Jesus."

Thoughts for the day...

Today I read Isaiah 49-52

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts: Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults." Isa 51:7

Thoughts: It is easy to think too much about what others think of me. What is really most important is what God says about me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'" Isa 52:7

Thoughts: It is the message and the heart behind what I do that determines if my effort is meaningful and truly beautiful.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is what the Lord says - the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel - to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: 'Kings will see you and rise up, princes will see and how down, because of the Lord , who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.' This is what the Lord ways; 'In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!' ' " Isa 49:7-9a

Thoughts: God can put anyone in any position in soceity whenever He wants. He has His timing too. I need to trust Him that He has the right time to have me in certain places with certain people.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talking to God: "Jesus, help me to fear U alone and not what other people say and think although at the same time being humble to listen to others' feedback. I want to do my best for U and emjoy being with U.  I know that U will put me where U want me. But God, I ask that U give me greater opportunities to really say to people, 'Come out!' and 'Be free!' in a way that will speak to their hearts."

Thoughts for the day...

Today I read Isaiah 44-48

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is what the Lord says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.'" Isa 48:17

Thoughts: God is so so so so so so worthy of my trust. Why do I doubt or worry? He must be so hurt and sad. Real peace comes from knowing and trusting in my Creator.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talking to God: "I'm sorry for times I am worried about this or that. I know U made everything and r still in total control. It is amazing that U love and care about me. I know U have in store for me that which is truly the best. Help me to always trust U."

Thoughts for the day...

Today I read Isaiah 40-43

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and steams in the wasteland." Isa 43:18-19

"A voice of one calling: 'In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for out God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill make low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plane. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.'" Isa 40:3-5

Thoughts: Before I decided to go to APA to really make performing arts my career, God gave me the verses about John the Baptist preparing the way for the Lord in the desert. It's been many years since then. There have been many ups and downs. It can be easy for me to get stuck in "former things" and "dwell on the past". These can be my own experiences or failures and even what other people tell me of their experience in this field. But I know that God is doing a new thing now. I am starting to see things happen that people never thought could happen in this field. God is using the arts to prepare the way for His coming.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talking to God: "May U use me and the gifts U have given me to prepare the way for U, Jesus. May U strengthen all Ur people in the arts and media industry, whether performers or teachers, backtage or onstage, to stand firm for U. May we b awed by all the new things we see U do. In a land that seemed like a desert, may springs and streams of Ur life now flow."

Thoughts for the day...

Today I read Isaiah 36-39

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thoughts: It looked inevitable that King Sennacherib of Assyria with his strong army would destroy Jerusalem. But Jerusalem had a King, Hezekiah, who trusted God. He led the Israelites to trust in god too. Because of their faith, God allowed a turn of events to happen. In the end, Sennacherib was killed, not even by his enemies, but by his own sons! Even when obeying God seems like definite defeat, I should trust God. He is the One who is in full control. He can take power away from people or cause things to happen. If God is for us, who can be against us! There are things that seem impossible to me. I often get discouraged. I'm getting older fast too. But God even gave Hezekiah 15 more yrs of life by making the sun reverse it's path ten steps! Time is not a problem for God either.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Talking to God: "Lord, when things don't seem possible and I'm getting discouraged, help me to keep my trust in U and remember how nothing is impossible with U."
